When you’re overwhelmed by the HOW, focus on your WHY.

When you have a dream, and you don’t make a plan, it remains a dream.

When you create a deadline and move forward in steps to making your dream a reality, it becomes a goal.

When you have a dream, you must protect it. Your own family are going to tell you that it can’t be done. Find real friends, people who will cheer you on, encourage you, support you, and help you believe that it is possible. Most of all, deep down inside, you need to believe that you can do it.

When you have a dream, people are going to try to stop you from achieving it, out of jealousy sometimes, out of negativity other times. When someone can’t do something themselves, they will try to convince you that you can’t do it.

When you have a dream, there will be obstacles you must overcome. Obstacles can be money, lack of family support, responsibilities that minimize the time you have to achieve your dream, physical illnesses that make you easily tired and unable to go and come as you please, mental illnesses like anxiety and depression that make getting out of bed in the morning so much harder than it seems.

When you have a dream, you need to know WHY you want to achieve it. For example, if you want to become a doctor and have your own clinic, is it because you want to become rich? Or have prestige? Or because you want to make a difference by helping people? Your WHY will be your motivation.

When you have a dream, sometimes life gets in the way. Your parents won’t let you travel to pursue your education, you don’t have enough money to open the business you want, you are drained by your 9 to 5 job or by your children that at the end of the day you have no more energy left to do what you’re passionate about. When you live alone and are not responsible for anyone and you don’t have to answer to a husband or a father, it’s easier to go after what you want. It’s still hard, and there are still obstacles, but it’s harder when you have to ask permission.

Dreams take time to come true. They take diligence, persistence, and patience. In order to be successful, you must not be afraid to fail. Thomas Edison failed 1000 experiments before he invented the lightbulb successfully. If you want something badly, so badly it’s all you think about, then make a plan. Obstacles will be thrown at you left and right. Don’t let your self-doubt and fear hinder your progress.

When you’re overwhelmed by the HOW, focus on your WHY.
