21 days Feel Good Challenge

Hello and welcome to my blog! If you’re new here, I hope you enjoy reading and decide to stick around. If you’ve been here before, you know I love doing challenges on the 21 days challenges app every once in a while. I haven’t done a challenge in a while. Partly because I’ve been overwhelmed and partly because I got a new phone.

I finished the Feel Good Challenge yesterday. Well, not exactly. The challenge is over, but I didn’t do everything in it. I tried, though, and I did this challenge because I’ve been getting very moody lately. I get really angry then I get really depressed. The only times I was feeling good was when I was watching a TV show or on YouTube or reading or writing. Even then, it was an escapism mechanism so that I wouldn’t feel at all.

I’m glad to report that this challenge did make me feel good, even though I didn’t do all 21 things, and it left me with a sense of accomplishment. Furthermore, I do feel a bit more peaceful in my marriage. I was miserable and now I’m not. I wouldn’t say all my problems disappeared but dare I say I’m currently content? Even though not much has changed, but my perspective has. I hope it makes you feel good too.

Day 1

Reflect on the amazing things you already did this year.

I published a few books, promoted my books, ordered author copies, surpassed 10,000 views this year alone on the blog, and wrote 4 chapters of a novella.

Day 2

Wear your favourite things today.

I wore purple, my favorite color.

Day 3

Make a list of things that make you happy.

Nature. Music. Books. When someone compliments me. When someone reads my blogs and gives me positive feedback. When someone buys one of my books. When my son listens to me from the 1st time.

Day 4

Eat your favourite childhood snack.

I can’t. My favorite childhood snack is chocolate chips. My mom used to make chocolate chip cookies a lot, and I would snack on the nestle chocolate chips whenever she wasn’t paying attention. I even snuck a whole bag once to school and ate it all on the bus with my dad’s cousin’s son (I was 9 and he was 6). I think my mom still has no idea. It’s one of my favorite childhood memories, and a bag of nestle chocolate chips is probably really expensive now so I won’t buy it…

Day 5

Dance around your house.

Well, not ALL around the house, but maybe just in the kitchen?

Day 6

Try to drink 8 glasses of water.

I’m golden if I get myself to drink 3 glasses of water a day.

Day 7

Watch your favorite movie.

Every movie I watch ends up being my favorite movie.

Day 8

Give your bedroom/workplace a makeover.

I used to do this as a teenager, but my knees hurt now, the furniture is too heavy, and there isn’t enough space to rearrange things.

Day 9

Watch the sunset/sunrise while listening to your favorite songs.

I watched the sunset several times these past few weeks. Maybe not while listening to my favorite songs, which I don’t have any favorites anyway, but it was just as magical.

Day 10

Make a healthy meal.

The lunches I cook are mostly healthy, but I made a healthy breakfast (eggs, cucumber and tomato).

Day 11

Buy yourself flowers (or something you really want).

I bought myself a snickers bar. I also bought myself a mug, a nightlight with stars and the moon shapes coming out, and a 3D snakes and ladders game. I don’t like to buy flowers for myself because they wilt and die anyway so I consider them a waste of money.

Day 12

Do something nice for someone.

I think I do nice things for people but I don’t have anything in mind. It’s not like I keep track of my kind acts.

Day 13

Make your own playlist with songs that bring you joy.

Day 14

Stargaze whenever you can.

I look up at the sky when I hang laundry at night. I saw 1 star the other day. Does that count?

Day 15

Order your favourite food and treat yourself.

Day 16

Go for a long walk.

I’ve been walking more lately. I took an extra long walk on Thursday (8638 steps as opposed to my average 3853).

Day 17

Make your favourite drink at home.

Day 18

Listen to a podcast about something that interests you.

While I cook or do heavy housework, I listen to Pick the Brain Podcast, The Happy Times, Kalyn’s Coffee Talk, The Science of Happiness, and Unruffled.

Day 19

Put together a puzzle.

Tell you a secret? I find puzzles very frustrating. I don’t like putting puzzles together.

Day 20

Watch movie from your childhood.

I have Totally Spies on my watch later on YouTube, but I’m yet to watch it. I will, though. Soon.

Day 21

Make your own pizza/favorite meal.

  5. Count me in. I have to sit down and write all these though. Just had a bad day yesterday, on my day off! It has to stop and I need to try to feel positive, calm, happy. Sorry, I’m not perfect. Got so much stuff to deal with and mindfulness for self care and love are just timely. Thank you.

    1. You’re welcome. I hope these help. Maybe write them as a checklist note on your phone and you can tick them off when you do them. Or if you prefer to write them on paper, you can do that do. You could also download the application if apps encourage you.
