How environmentally friendly are you?

I did a quiz yesterday, and basically they ask you a few questions to see how much you know about being environmentally friendly.

Before I share my results, I will tell you what I think I know about what being environmentally friendly is:

  • Relying on natural light as much as possible, and not turning on lights unnecessarily. ☑️
  • Trying not to use electrical devices as much as possible. ❎
  • Using renewable sources of energy eg. solar energy to heat your water ☑️
  • Not using lead in your petrol ⛽ when you fill your car ☑️
  • Putting a filter on the exhaust of your car to prevent emission of toxic gases ☑️
  • Not dumping wastes into the sea or ocean or rivers ☑️
  • Reuse, reduce and recycle ☑️☑️❎

Obviously, the ☑️ are things I do and the ❎ are the things I don’t do.

So I feel if I share my results as they are, I’d be giving the answers to the quiz away. Instead, I’ll list my take home messages from this quiz

  1. Reducing plastic use is very important
  2. Reducing meat intake is more important (good thing I don’t eat much meat, but I do eat meat)
  3. Relying on natural sunlight and not leaving the lights on is important
  4. Reducing the use of other electrical appliances is more important (I need to work on that)
  5. Switching to a hybrid car is a great idea (if you can afford it)

That’s all I have for now. I hope I didn’t give away too much from the quix. I got 2 wrong and 2 right in the quiz. Can you do better?

What are you doing to be more environmentally friendly?

September: Expectations vs. Reality

We are in the middle if September, and it feels like August.

It was the same way last year.

This year is worse.

I personally believe it’s because of global warming.

Summers have become hotter.

Winters have become colder.

Last winter, we had some pretty harsh storms, and this summer doesn’t seem to come to an end.

I think we will have an Autumn in October, and then winter will start in November, just like last year.

But seriously, one would expect September to be all orange leaves and hot cocoa and hoodie and jeans weather,

but in reality it’s an extention of summer.

Just add more humidity and masks and 6 feet apart because COVID-19 is still a thing.

I blame global warming for the weather. Go green people. If you can (depending on which country you live in).

Or you could just blame 2020 because this year has been something else.

From a walk in the park, to a message for the world

I love how the sun shines through the branches.
I love how the leaves shoot through the middle of the tree.
I love how the leaves move with the wind.
I love how the clouds move gently.

The trees are big and hollow.
Yet they stand so strong.
I love how nature whispers.
And sings such happy songs.

I love how i can’t hear the noises.
That keep me up at night.
When i’m in the midst of nature.
Everything is a delight.

I love how the leaves are shaped so perfectly.
I love how the flowers bloom effortlessly.
I love how some trees are evergreen.
A sign of flourish and fertility.

I love how some trees still stand tall.
Though they lost all their leaves, refuse to fall.
I love how close i feel to God.
In the middle of the grass, trees and all.

I love the different colors of the leaves.
Yellow and orange, but mostly green.
I love how safe i feel.
In the middle of nature, i feel so free.

You’d think i’m in the woods, but no.
I’m in a park in a city so polluted.

Although this city’s on the coast.
So i hang on to nature as much as i can get it.

I can hear the birds chirp but i can’t see them.
Once i leave nature, the voices, i can hear them.
They’re back full force, trying to destroy me.
Or maybe they just came out to warn me.

To tell me that nature is always the answer.
To tell me it’s nature i should be looking after.
So let’s save the trees, and purify the sea.
Let’s clear the air, and achieve homogeny.Let’s make this planet our number one.
As far as i know, we don’t have another one.
